About UsTufani Basenjis got its start with the purchase of an adorable red and white girl named Tempest. She was bred by Catherine Ongaro and Kathy & Julie Jones "the Basenji Sisters". The name "Tufani" means hurricane, storm or "tempest" in Swahili. If you have ever been around Tempest you would know that she truly lives up to her name. I often wonder is she would be any different if her name had been "Whisper" instead. All jokes aside, it is a pleasure to live with her and life is never dull with this Basenji. I would not trade her even if she was more like a "Whisper". I can only say that I have learned to keep the doors to my linen closet firmly shut due to Tempest's never ending curiosity.
